Pickup DiMarzio Crunch Lab (Black)

The DiMarzio Crunch Lab (Black) is a bridge pickup designed in close collaboration with legendary guitarist John Petrucci. This model, along with the LiquiFire, was used by John during the recording of Dream Theater's iconic album “Black Clouds and Silver Linings”. The Crunch Lab delivers a dense and powerful sound characterized by clarity and precision, avoiding excessive “dirt” and sluggishness.

The name of the model speaks for itself - the pickup offers a clear and expressive crunch. Unlike many analogs, Crunch Lab does not focus on flashy highs or thunderous lows. Its internal design, although similar to the D Sonic, is distinguished by the fact that it provides an open midrange and low end. This creates a three-dimensional and detailed sound for chords, even when using the amp with minimal gain.

John Petrucci especially appreciates this model for its versatility and installs Crunch Lab in most of his guitars, including baritone models, regardless of the fret setting. For best tone, he recommends installing the pickup with a solid magnetic wire towards the neck.
