When Steve Vai teamed up with Ibanez in 1987, he had no idea the lasting impact his signature guitar model would have. Today JEM is a cult instrument that is immediately associated with the legendary guitarist. The Ibanez JEM JR is a solid body electric guitar introduced by Ibanez in 2015. This is the signature model of American guitarist Steve Vai, part of the JEM series. Produced in Indonesia as the most affordable JEM model. In an effort to make JEM accessible to a wider fan base, Ibanez released JEMJR, providing more accessible access to the magic of JEM. The JEMJR has many of the hallmarks of JEM: H-S-H pickup configuration, Tree of Life inlays, double lockout tremolo system and of course the famous Monkey grip and Lion's Claw tremolo cavity. The solid, double-cutaway body provides maximum resonance and sustain, while the Wizard III neck offers a comfortable, smooth, fast feel with crisp response. Quantum humbucker, single-coil mid and bridge humbucker pickups offer a variety of tones with depth, warmth and rich dynamics. JEMJRL is a left-handed version that was introduced at the end of 2016. JEMJRSP is a special version of the JEM JR, available in yellow or pink finishes. The RG450DX is essentially the same guitar, minus the grip, tremolo cavity, and angled output jack, along with different neck inserts.
