With new developments in instrument technology, the popularization of more technical playing styles, and the desire of musicians for lighter, more portable instruments, today's headless guitars are moving far beyond the design of the past. However, despite all these advances, Ibanez still saw this space as an exciting opportunity. The Q or Quest series is a completely new concept for Ibanez. The "quest" in this case was not only adapting an existing instrument to a headless design, but designing an entirely new guitar from scratch. This line features a number of unique elements designed to maximize sound, performance and playing comfort. These include custom-designed R1 single-coils and Q58 humbuckers, a new Mono-Tune bridge, and a patented string locking mechanism. The QX variant also features innovative 8-degree inward-sloping frets, uniquely tailored to their ergonomics for the benefit of highly technical players. Ultimately, this series offers a feature set that is diverse and versatile enough to appeal not only to today's technical guitarists, but also to players who may have never even thought of a headless guitar before. Regardless of genre, Q (Quest) allows guitarists to experience the full range of their creative possibilities.

The Ibanez Q52PB is a headless Q Series solid body electric guitar introduced by Ibanez in 2023. It is made in Indonesia. The Q52PB features a poplar top on an ergonomic, compact, lightweight and resonant nyatoh body. The neck is maple/bubinga and the fretboard is maple. The neck has 24 frets with mother-of-pearl stepped dots and luminescent coating. Components include a pair of Q58 humbuckers with brushed stainless steel caps and a Mono-Tune bridge. Comes with a cover.
