This model was presented at the NAMM show at the end of 2015 as an alternative to the classic RG designs. If you like this legendary line of electric guitars, but the tremolo system with the appropriate bridge and top locks repels you from buying, then the Ibanez RG421EX BKF will undoubtedly be the perfect instrument for you!
Ibanez has equipped this electric guitar with a classic hardtail bridge with string through. The neck is classic Wizard III maple, which means the speed and playability associated with RG models is still present in this original model! The neck consists of three parts and is mounted on four bolts.
Quantum's passive ceramic pickups deserve special mention. Their history is quite interesting: they were produced in the 1990s and installed on most pro-level guitars. They returned to production in 2014 to replace the DiMarzio and IBZ USA on some models. Quantum pickups feature an accelerated bass response and enhanced mids for fast riffs and satisfying crunch.
In order to simplify the instrument and make it more straightforward, the Ibanez RG421EX BKF was equipped with two humbuckers without the now traditional single-coil in the middle position. However, the tonal richness is not affected in any way: the 5-way pickup switch offers such non-standard combinations as connecting two coils of a bridge and a single-coil pickup in series, as well as connecting coils of a neck in parallel! The Ibanez RG421EX BKF boasts cream binding, graphite nut and fingerboard dot inlays, and die-cast tuners.
