The original CE model was introduced in 1988, offering players the traditional PRS design and quality with the added click and shine of a bolt-on guitar. Added to the PRS lineup in 2019, the CE 24 Semi-Hollow model offers the snappy attack and warm resonance of a semi-hollow body electric guitar. Fans of the original 1980/00s PRS CE series will feel right at home playing the updated PRS CE 24 Semi-Hollow. A TCI-tuned 85/15 pickup set and an updated switching system will take you through the full tonal range that lets you play from ringing, clean single-coil sounds to searing humbucking overdrive. Lightweight semi-hollow mahogany body with a single F-hole, gorgeous maple top, maple neck and rosewood fretboard give the guitar a warm and balanced sound, irresistible appearance and playability. The fast maple neck of the instrument glides across the hand for smooth transitions between the upper and lower frets, while the rosewood fretboard provides precise note articulation that PRS veterans are sure to love. Built on designs Paul Reed Smith has worked on for decades and refined over years of prototyping, the Pattern Thin neck profile is an updated version of the traditional wide thin neck. The CE 24 Semi-Hollow features a PRS Tremolo bridge and low-mass locking tuners for maximum expressiveness and tuning stability.
Connect the CE 24 Semi-Hollow to your amplifier and enjoy the sweet, clean, articulate sound of the PRS 85/15 pickups, which are rich in harmonic overtones reminiscent of vintage humbuckers. For maximum tonal versatility, the CE 24 Semi-Hollow features a push-pull coil splitter pitch control that opens a portal into the universe of single coil tones. Paul Reed Smith has retuned his original pickups to bring the sweet harmonica and ringing warmth of a classic design, but with modern power and articulation for today's players and equipment. Each set of pickups was tuned by Paul and his team by ear in what is known as Tuned Capacitance and Inductance (TCI). The result is very musical pickups that are true to their ancestry but updated for today's players.
