Laney Digbeth DB-PRE is a bass guitar effects pedal that features two signal paths – FET and TUBE, allowing for a wide range of tonal characteristics. It is equipped with extensive tone-shaping capabilities and numerous inputs and outputs, making it ideal both for standalone use and as part of an existing setup. It is suitable for bassists who seek complete control over their sound.
The pedal has two channels (FET and Tube with a Blend switch), a 4-band equalizer, volume controls for both channels and a Drive control for the Tube channel. A notable feature of the pedal is the dynamic, powerful Tilt equalizer, which operates like a seesaw. In the central position, this control is neutral. Turning it clockwise increases the overall mid and high frequencies while reducing the lows, adding more presence to the sound – useful for cutting through live performances. Turning the control counterclockwise decreases the mids and highs while boosting the lows, making the sound rounder.
Inputs and outputs are located on the side panels and the back. The DB-PRE features active and passive inputs, an FX loop for connecting effects between the preamp and output sections, and a Link output. All of these are on TRS 1/4” jacks. Additionally, the pedal includes a DI output on a balanced XLR connector, an Aux input, and a headphone output on TRS 1/8”. LED status indicators, high-quality switching components, and noiseless operation of the switches ensure ease and reliability of use.
