The Boss RE-2 is a modern reimagining of the legendary Roland RE-201 Space Echo cassette effect, which has been a standard of sound since its introduction in 1974. With its unique combination of tape echo and spring reverb, this device has inspired generations of musicians and producers, and now its iconic character is available in a convenient, compact pedal from BOSS.
The RE-2 Space Echo pedal faithfully recreates all the characteristics of the original — from warm analog echoes to the natural tape modulation that creates a deep, “live” sound. BOSS engineers have meticulously recreated the behavior of the tape mechanism, motor variations, and even the tonality of the preamp, so the pedal conveys the authentic atmosphere of the vintage equipment with incredible detail.
This effect is designed for today’s guitarists who want to combine classic sound with the flexibility of modern control. The user can choose from 11 delay modes, adjust the intensity, repetition rate, tone, reverb and Wow & Flutter effects. The Twist function adds dynamic special effects during performance, and with stereo inputs and outputs, the RE-2 is perfect for both live performances and studio work.
