MXR Custom Shop Timmy Overdrive
This pedal has been able to accommodate a sea of grainy, textured drive that can really bring an instrument to life while retaining its fundamental character - all in a miniature body that won't take up too much space on your pedalboard. The design of this model is based on the development of veteran pedagogue Paul Cochrane, who has received accolades from many professional musicians. When Paul decided to offer this pedal to a wider audience, he decided to work with the MXR engineering team.
With an ingenious use of a clipping type switch and unique tone controls, Timmy Overdrive is a live guitarist's dream come true. The Clip switch offers three different clipping options for a variety of situations, whether you're looking for a "big" and dense tone with tons of headroom that can rip up an amp, or a more compressed and saturated tone for fat chords.
The Bass and Treble controls are another highlight of this pedal. Paul wired the bass control in such a way that it affects the signal before overdriving so that you can maintain sufficient bass level in the guitar, even with low gain, and the Treble control only affects the signal after overdriving, allowing the musician to maintain the softness and musicality of the guitar tone, even with "dirty" settings.
