Kuppmen Music is the result of a unique collaboration and shared passion of two people: experienced Dutch drummer Wouter Menken and talented German inventor Peter Kuppers. The brand's history is a journey from disappointment over the disappearance of a beloved product to the creation of an enhanced instrument for musicians worldwide.

Background: The Search for Perfection

With over 30 years of experience playing stages ranging from pubs to theaters and festivals, Wouter Menken was always looking for the perfect balance between sound and durability. For intimate venues, he preferred wooden drumrods due to their quieter sound, but their fragility was a significant drawback.

The solution came in the form of carbon rods and sticks from Carbostick. Menken discovered that they were not only extremely durable (lasting over 40 hours of play compared to the usual 4 hours for wooden sticks), but also offered excellent rebound, clear sound on cymbals, and, contrary to popular myths, were safe for both the instruments and the musician's hands.

The Disappearance of Carbostick

In January 2014, Carbostick products suddenly disappeared from the market, leaving drummers without their favorite tools. Unwilling to accept this, Wouter Menken began his own investigation, which led him to Eastern Bavaria — to Peter Kuppers.

Kuppers, the inventor of the original carbon sticks, turned out to be a brilliant craftsman with a huge love for drums. As it turned out, he had been forced to close his previously successful company in 2013 due to personal reasons.

The Birth of Kuppmen

The meeting between Menken and Kuppers in January 2015 became a turning point. Discovering shared views on music and drumming, they decided to join forces. Thus, the name Kuppmen was born (a combination of the surnames Kuppers and Menken).

The brand did not just bring the legendary sticks back to the market. The product was technically further developed to better meet the requirements of modern drummers.
