Arturia has officially announced Pigments 7 — a massive update to its flagship polychrome software synthesizer. The new version promises to further bridge the gap between inspiration and outcome, offering a redesigned interface, unique new filters, effects, and significant performance improvements.
_Pigments: Sound Design Synthesizer
Pigments has long established itself as a versatile tool for modern producers and sound designers. It is an all-in-one synthesizer blending six cutting-edge synthesis engines (including Granular, Wavetable, Virtual Analog, Harmonic, and more), deep modulation, and studio-grade effects.
Pigments' main feature has always been its visual approach: an intuitive, color-coded interface that allows you to see exactly how sound changes in real-time. From creating atmospheric cinematic textures to aggressive basses for EDM and Trap — Pigments is built to push the boundaries of sound design.

_What’s new in Pigments 7?
The seventh version focuses on the balance between deep capabilities and immediate creative flow.
Revamped Play View
The Play View interface has been completely redesigned. It now offers interactive visualization, allowing you to quickly grasp the tone and timbre of a preset. This provides the perfect balance between abstraction and control, focusing the musician's attention on the feel of the sound rather than just the settings.
New Sound Design Modules
Arturia has added tools that open up new sonic palettes:
- Rage Filter, allowing you to add raw grittiness and bite to the sound. Paired with the sequencer, this filter is perfect for creating energetic Acid basslines and leads.
- Ripple Filter, which creates frequency-based phase offsets. This achieves "laser" transients and ringing high-ends, essential for modern electronic design.
- Reverb Filter – a unique filter capable of creating metallic resonant tones at high resonance or (when modulating cutoff) transforming into a generator of noisy swooshes.
- The new Corroder effect for controlled sound degradation. It allows you to "corrode" a specific frequency range while maintaining the core timbre.
Audio Engine & Precision Improvements
For those who love precise control, Pigments 7 offers:
- Sharper Amplitude Envelope, ensuring faster timing and enhanced punchiness. This is critical, for example, for creating Psytrance-style bass.
- FM modulation on the Classic Filter, expanding frequency modulation capabilities.
Expanded Library & Tutorials
- Added 150 new factory presets, 450 expansion presets, as well as new wavetables, samples, and noises.
- Interactive in-app tutorials that guide the user through real production techniques.
Workflow Optimization
The update includes UX improvements for modulation (displaying the modulation range), as well as general CPU improvements, making working with the instrument even smoother.
With the release of Pigments 7, Arturia once again confirms its status as an innovation leader. Thanks to the new Rage and Ripple filters, improved envelope precision, and an updated visual experience, this synthesizer becomes an even more powerful tool for those seeking their own unique sound.
Existing users can update the software for free and take advantage of special offers on Explorations preset bundles, while new users have the opportunity to purchase Pigments at a discounted price.
