We had the pleasure of meeting bassist, John Thomasson, this past June, at Summer NAMM in Nashville, TN. John is the bassist of many top acts, and never short on gigs, having chops on both electric and upright, coupled with extensive experience and knowledge from his schooling at Booker T. Washington School for the Performing and Visual Arts, University of North Texas, and years of professional gigging and producing under his belt.
We were undeniably thrilled to hear that John picked up an AfterShock Bass Distortion and HUB after seeing them at NAMM, and we were even more thrilled to see that they made it onto his board when we met up with him at Gillette Stadium, where his band, “Little Big Town,” was performing for two consecutive nights. Little Big Town is a multi-Grammy winning, platinum-selling, country band out of Nashville.
Whether John is performing live, or recording the next big hit, he has an emphasis on creating musically and tonally inventive lines. One might be surprised to see a 3Leaf Proton Envelope Filter, and Octave, next to an AfterShock Bass Distortion on a pedalboard for a country gig, but there they are, and John makes them sing! With his arsenal of basses, John uses the AfterShock to pull out smooth tube-driven tones, crazy sub synths, with help from 3Leaf’s envelope filter and octave, and everything in between.
