Rick studied trumpet and audio engineering at the renowned Berklee College of Music, and today he’s one of the most sought-after FOH and mixing engineers in the business. He spent five years mixing for acts like Earth, Wind & Fire, Charlie Wilson, Erykah Badu, Stevie Wonder, LEWITT endorser Faith Evans, Ashanti, Kelly Rowland, Beyoncé Knowles, Madonna, Gladys Knight, Lalah Hathaway, LEWITT endorser Brian Culbertson, Burt Bacharach, Mary J. Blige, Chris Brown, Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds… in other words, Rick Camp works with the biggest acts of our time. And for J-Lo, it’s now the second tour where she’s banking on his talents.
FOH Online recently published a feature on Rick’s work and his experiences with LEWITT. Alongside a complete input list, the story offers deep insights into the entire signal chain — including the role that LEWITT microphones have to play there: “Coming in halfway through a world tour is hardly time to make big changes, but Camp did add his own tweaks, mostly in terms of drum mics. “I like these new Lewitt Audio mics, a company from Austria. Most people had never heard of them but were amazed when they heard them — the drummer was totally amazed. I’m using the Lewitt DTP 340 on toms and the double-capsule Lewitt DTP 640 on kick.”
Participating once again in such a major tour is notable not just because of how new LEWITT is to the high-end microphone segment, but also because it confirms that the industry absolutely does have a need for new solutions in a market that’s dominated by long-established players. Adele, the Black Eyed Peas, Oomph! — and now Jennifer Lopez, too, alongside many others — speak to the high quality and stage-suitability of LEWITT microphones, following their entry into studios of reference such as Atlantic Records, Serenity East and Serenity West Recording, Swing House Recording and California Road Studios. We say: thank you all for your trust!
