The upgrade from SoundID Reference for Headphones to SoundID Reference for Speakers & Headphones allows you to unify all your monitoring devices — both headphones and speaker systems — under one consistent reference sound. You can easily switch between listening sources while maintaining accurate sound, giving you confidence in every mixing decision.

This upgrade adds speaker calibration to the existing set of features for headphones. The software supports 500+ headphone models, offers precise speaker calibration using a measurement microphone, and provides three filter modes (Zero Latency, Mixed, Linear Phase) as well as DSP features like Mono, Dry/Wet, and Safe Headroom. With MIDI control and user presets, you can switch quickly between various output configurations.

The platform allows real-time adjustment of custom target curves and includes the Translation Check feature to simulate how your mix sounds on 20+ types of devices and environments. The software provides zero latency as a plugin and near-zero system-wide latency on Windows, and it natively supports Apple Silicon (M-series chips).

You can also export your calibration profiles to supported DSP-enabled hardware — more than 10 device types are supported, including audio interfaces and speaker systems.

The package includes the standalone SoundID Reference app for stereo systems and headphones (ASIO, WASAPI, APO, HAL), DAW plugins (AU, VST2, VST3, AAX), and averaged profiles for 500+ supported headphone models. After upgrading, you can activate the software on three devices using the upgraded license code.

Important! To upgrade, you need a valid permanent SoundID Reference for Headphones license, supported or individually calibrated Sonarworks headphones, a 2.0 stereo speaker system, a SoundID Reference or Sonarworks XREF 20 measurement microphone, an XLR to XLR cable, an audio interface with +48V phantom power, the same sample rate settings for input/output (44.1, 48, 88, 96, or 192 kHz), and a stable internet connection. Supported OS: macOS 11 Big Sur and later, Windows 10/11.
