The Electro-Voice RE27N/D is a professional-quality dynamic cardioid microphone designed for broadcast dubbing, high-quality recording and sound reinforcement. The RE27N/D microphone uses a revolutionary neodymium alloy magnet and reinforced dome diaphragm to provide increased sensitivity (up to 6 dB), undistorted output at high SPLs, and extended high-frequency response. The RE27N/D's exceptional sensitivity, excellent transient response and inherently low dynamic transducer noise provide an excellent signal-to-noise ratio easily comparable to the best cardioid condenser microphones. To further reduce noise levels, a high-efficiency coil is used to reduce hum from lighting and other sources. The RE27N/D's continuous variable diameter design reduces the "proximity effect" that enhances low frequencies and ensures consistent low-frequency response at both close and far distances. For special situations where low-frequency attenuation is required, two easily operated switches are provided to provide a sharp low-frequency cut at 200 Hz or a soft attenuation. The third switch is designed to reduce the high frequency gain. The RE27N/D's true, uniform cardioid polar pattern provides maximum rejection at 180° off-axis, ensuring superior gain before feedback. A built-in plosive and wind noise filter covers every acoustic hole of the RE27N/D, allowing you to talk at close range without fear of plosive sounds. The filter portion also provides shock mount to the internal microphone transducer, reducing the transmission of vibrations from external sources. This shockproof mounting system, as well as the extremely durable steel housing, allows the RE27N/D to withstand the rigors of professional use.
