Sennheiser MKH 416-P48U3 is a professional short shotgun microphone with a short interference tube and a pressure-gradient capsule. Its RF condenser design ensures high resistance to humidity and temperature fluctuations, making the microphone equally reliable in studio and outdoor environments. With high directivity, low self-noise, and excellent feedback rejection, the MKH 416 is a versatile tool for film, television, radio, reporting, and voice-over applications.

At low and mid frequencies, the microphone exhibits a hypercardioid pickup pattern, while above 2 kHz it approaches a lobar pattern — allowing selective focus on the target sound source and effective rejection of off-axis noise from the sides and rear. With a sensitivity of 25 mV/Pa (±1 dB) and a low equivalent noise level of 13 dB, the MKH 416 delivers speech with outstanding intelligibility and natural articulation, while remaining unobtrusive on camera thanks to its compact size and matte black finish.

The microphone handles sound pressure levels up to 130 dB, has a nominal impedance of 25 ohms, and requires 48 V ±4 V phantom power via an XLR-3 connector (minimum load impedance – 800 ohms). Its rugged metal housing is designed for intensive use within a temperature range of −10 °C to +70 °C.
