The Shure WL183 is an omnidirectional lavalier microphone for general sound reinforcement, recording or remote monitoring, with a 360-degree pickup angle and low noise operation. It has a 1.2 meter (4 ft) cable with a miniature 4-pin TA4F mini plug that connects to bodypacks. The included clamp can be rotated 90 degrees for easy placement. Although the microphone is tiny, Shure has equipped the WL183 with very sophisticated CommShield technology that protects against interference from cellular RF devices and digital bodypack transmitters using GSM radio transmission (a technology found in mobile phones). GSM transmits voice and multimedia data using a series of short, intense radio frequency pulses that can cause significant interference to nearby audio electronic devices such as microphones. CommShield technology is designed to combat this by providing you with a clear signal, regardless of the strength and proximity of the GSM pulses.
