The Shure WL185 is a lavalier cardioid condenser microphone recommended for general purpose applications requiring good ambient noise rejection, with a 130 degree pickup angle. It has a 1.2 meter (4 ft) cable with a miniature 4-pin TA4F mini plug that connects to bodypacks. The included clamp can be rotated 90 degrees for easy placement. The use of a windscreen is highly recommended. Although the microphone is tiny, Shure has equipped the WL185 with very sophisticated CommShield technology that protects against interference from cellular RF devices and digital bodypack transmitters using GSM radio transmission (a technology found in mobile phones). GSM transmits voice and multimedia data using a series of short, intense radio frequency pulses that can cause significant interference to nearby audio electronic devices such as microphones. CommShield technology is designed to combat this by providing you with a clear signal, regardless of the strength and proximity of the GSM pulses.
