The Electro-Voice RE320 is a professional-quality dynamic microphone designed specifically for sound reinforcement and recording applications that require extremely low noise levels and extremely predictable tonal and transient response. Ideal for capturing a wide variety of instrumental and vocal sound sources, the RE320 delivers unrivaled detail, dynamic content and natural tonal response. Variable D is an Electro-Voice exclusive solution to eliminate the tonal variations associated with the proximity effect found in other directional microphones. Providing a balanced and uniform frequency response up to 180° off-axis, it allows for stable and linear tonal reproduction even as the sound source moves around the microphone. Variable-D capsules are ideal for capturing critical details of amplified and acoustic instruments, as well as the voice, delivering impeccably smooth and natural tone from virtually any sound source. Using the same coil technology found in the RE20 and RE27N/D to suppress electromagnetic field interference generated by sources located close to the microphone, the RE320 creates an ultra-quiet signal path free of the hum and buzz associated with other dynamic microphones. The RE320 features a two-position frequency response loop switch that allows for two completely different response curves. Selecting the left position of the switch activates a curve specifically designed for use with drums. By placing dips and peaks exactly where the drums require special EQ attention, the result is an incredibly tight, "snap hit" sound that requires virtually no additional EQ when properly positioned on the drum kit. Selecting the switch to the right position produces a flatter, linear curve, ideal for other instruments (such as guitar amps, bass amps, low toms, percussion, wind and brass instruments, etc.) as well as voice (music and speech) ) in many applications. Response is smooth, natural and articulate, with minimal off-axis discoloration from surrounding sound sources.
