The Electro-Voice RE 520 is a premium, high-performance condenser supercardioid vocal microphone. Designed to bring out the exceptional detail and vibrant clarity inherent to condenser elements, it elegantly conveys the lyrical subtlety needed for expressive vocal performances while controlling off-axis sound from close-in sources. The sound imaging is detailed, full and vibrant, with warm and clear lows, natural and expressive mids, and open, clear and detailed highs. Supercardioid polar pattern provides superior acoustic isolation. Maximum feedback suppression occurs when the stage monitor is positioned at an angle of 225° or 125° relative to the axis of the element. This circuit also allows for a cleaner mix by suppressing off-axis sound. The multi-stage pop filter consists of two layers of dense foam separated by air, which attenuates wind speed caused by breathing and wind blows. The high pass filter has two positions. The flat position ensures full passage of the frequency range of the capsule. In the high-pass position, frequencies below 150 Hz are attenuated. The internal shock mount isolates the microphone element from vibrations and protects against noise during operation.
