The Electro-Voice Zx3-90PI sets a new standard for uncompromising sound and versatility in a simple and compact package. The body of the ZX3-90PI is made from an injection molded polymer that is inherently waterproof. The addition of a multi-layer grid with hydrophobic fabric and a gland nut inlet connection results in a weather resistant system. The basis of the system is converters. The first is the high-efficiency DVX3121 low-frequency transducer. EV has used advanced CAD technology to create a forced air-cooled directional voice coil that delivers high power and efficiency. Finite element analysis was used to optimize the suspension and magnetic structure for long linear travel, resulting in low distortion and high bass extension. These features and details, such as forged magnetic components and special materials, ensure reliability at 600W power rating in a lightweight converter. Next up is the ND2, a 2" voice coil compression driver based on a neodymium motor design that delivers maximum power with minimum size and weight. Its precision phase shifter and titanium diaphragm provide superior treble reproduction, while its built-in heatsink provides cooling for high power output.
The high-tech casing uses injection-molded impact-resistant polypropylene, making the Zx3 incredibly durable. The geometry of the cabinet has been carefully considered to ensure maximum rigidity and bass reproduction. The design of the Zx3 is also ideal for stage monitors as it allows two angles (45° or 55°) without any additional accessories. Two coverage patterns are available: 60° x 60° for long range and cluster applications, 90° x 50° for wider coverage or short distances. The Zx3 is equipped with two anchor plates for mounting, as well as two more possible anchor plate attachment points on the bottom. For permanent hanging or attaching brackets, the Zx3 also has two M8 points at the top and bottom, two under the handle and one on the back of the case, for a total of 7.
