A1 is Pro-Ject's first automatic turntable. This model is made in Germany and features a simple automatic mechanism that starts playback at the flick of a switch and smoothly returns the lever to its original position when playback is complete, all with no electronic interference to interfere with the enjoyment of true analog sound. The A1 has a built-in phono preamplifier that can be switched off for connection to any receiver, soundbar or high-end speaker system with an analog RCA input. Setup is simple and straightforward, and the factory-installed Ortofon OM 10 cartridge ensures that the player is ready to play within minutes of unboxing.
Pro-Ject Audio Systems is proud to announce that they have finally found access to the technology that allows them to build automatic players without compromising substandard sound quality. Handcrafted in Germany by a traditional manufacturer with rich experience in making turntables, the new Pro-Ject AUTOMAT turntables represent the new pinnacle of turntable design. This technically robust technology brings the Pro-Ject sound and philosophy to an entirely new audience, and with it, affordable high-quality Hi-Fi into people's homes.
The Automat technology in the A1 is finally bringing the sound and philosophy of Pro-Ject to a whole new audience. All parts of the ultra-complex automation are completely manufactured and hand-assembled in Germany by a traditional manufacturer known for their highest reliability and excellent sound quality. The chance to get access to this technology falls once in a lifetime and allows you to reach new heights in the development of automatic players. And it all starts with the A1.
The player has a fully automatic start/stop, and the automatic mechanism is completely turned off and disconnected for the entire duration of the record. Fully mechanical automatics are activated when the "Start" button is pressed, and the tone arm automatically moves into the lead groove of the record. After playing, the automation is completely removed from the game and does not affect the quality of playback in any way – the free movement of the tonearm and the plate! And since the automation works completely mechanically – no additional electronics are required, it really does not affect the quality of the sound and does not degrade it during playback! At the end of the recording, the player automatically returns the tonearm to its original position. This is just one of the things that make this player the perfect entry-level player.
