The Rega Planar 8 (Polaris Grey) is a cutting-edge model based on innovative technology and inspired by Rega's best-selling turntable, the Naiad. The Planar 8 features an ultra-lightweight plinth made of Tancast 8 polyurethane foam, a material developed for the aerospace industry, sandwiched between two layers of HPL (high-pressure laminate). This makes the new skeleton plinth 30% lighter than the previous RP8, while providing increased rigidity to minimize unwanted resonances and sound distortion.
The RB880 tonearm has been designed with new bearings and a design that minimizes friction and ensures the best possible sound transmission. The tonearm utilizes a new aluminum assembly and zero tolerance bearing to ensure extreme stability and minimal play. An upgraded low capacitance phono cable with high-quality plugs ensures a flawless connection for the highest sound quality.
The turntable comes with a Neo power supply that provides electronic speed change, anti-vibration control and precise speed control for perfect stability. A three-layer glass platter with a super-flywheel effect helps to ensure even rotation of the records for flawless sound reproduction. The use of an EBLT belt ensures stability and precision of the drive.
The Planar 8 also features a removable dust cover, which significantly reduces the weight of the turntable and preserves its stylish appearance. This model is the choice for true vinyl connoisseurs who seek the highest quality sound.
