Víkingur Olafsson is an outstanding Icelandic pianist known for his unique musical programs. He collaborated with leading orchestras in Europe and America and released numerous albums for Deutsche Grammophon. His recording of the album with variations by Y.S. Goldberg is especially famous. Bach, who attracted a lot of public attention and received numerous awards, including Gramophone Magazine's Artist of the Year. Olafsson is one of the most in-demand artists of today and has performed on six continents in one year.

Following his successful debut on the DG label with Glass: Piano Works, Vikingur Ólafsson presents Johann Sebastian Bach, a collection of both well-known and rarely performed works by the renowned Baroque composer. The recording also features Bach's reinterpretations of works by Vivaldi and Busoni, as well as Olafsson's own transcriptions of Bach's chorales.
