Gorillaz is a British virtual band formed in 1998 by musician Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett. The band consists of four fictional characters: 2-D (vocals, keyboards), Murdoc Niccals (bass guitar), Noodle (guitar, keyboards, vocals), and Russel Hobbs (drums). Their music spans a wide range of genres, from hip-hop to electronic, synth-pop, and world music. Their debut album "Gorillaz" (2001) gained popularity with the hit "Clint Eastwood," and subsequent albums such as "Demon Days" (2005) and "Plastic Beach" (2010) solidified their place in the music industry. Gorillaz have won numerous awards, including Grammy Awards and MTV Video Music Awards, and have sold over 27 million albums worldwide.
Plastic Beach is the third studio album by the British virtual band Gorillaz, released on March 3, 2010. Work on the album took place from June 2008 to November 2009. Many well-known artists, including Snoop Dogg, Lou Reed, Mos Def, De La Soul, and others, contributed to the album. "Plastic Beach" received positive reviews from critics and was hailed as one of the best albums of the decade. It debuted at number two on the UK and US charts, selling over 100,000 copies in its first week. The album also achieved success in many other countries, reaching the top 10 in 22 national charts.
