Description

Ice Cube (real name – O'Shea Jackson Sr.) is an American rapper, songwriter, actor, and film producer. He gained fame as a member of the group N.W.A, where his lyrics on the album Straight Outta Compton (1989) contributed significantly to the rise of gangsta rap. After leaving the group in 1989 due to financial disagreements, Ice Cube launched a successful solo career, releasing politically charged albums such as AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted (1990), Death Certificate (1991), and The Predator (1992). In 2016, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of N.W.A. Beyond music, Ice Cube built an impressive film career, debuting in Boyz n the Hood (1991), and later gaining fame through the comedy Friday (1995) and its sequels. He has also worked as a director, producer, and executive producer for over 40 films, including Three Kings, the Barbershop series, Ride Along, and 21 Jump Street.

Death Certificate is the second studio album by American rapper Ice Cube, released on October 29, 1991. The album received significant acclaim for its political and social themes, addressing issues like racial discrimination, drug trafficking, and the right to bear arms. It achieved commercial success, debuting at number two on the Billboard 200 chart and receiving platinum certification. The album is divided into two parts: "Death Side", which reflects the negative aspects of life, and "Life Side", offering a vision for change. The album was highly praised by critics, though it also sparked controversy, particularly with the track "Black Korea", which was seen as racist. "No Vaseline", a sharp diss track aimed at former N.W.A members, became one of the most famous diss tracks in hip-hop history. The album was re-released in 2017 for its 25th anniversary.
