Description

Louis Armstrong was an outstanding American trumpet player and vocalist, regarded as one of the most influential figures in the history of jazz. His career spanned over five decades, and he made significant contributions to the development of the genre, shifting from collective improvisation to solo performances. Some of his most famous songs include "What a Wonderful World," "Hello, Dolly!" and "La Vie en Rose." Armstrong began his musical career in New Orleans and later became a national icon, performing on radio, television, and in film. Thanks to his unique voice and improvisational skills, he gained popularity across various audiences. Armstrong also collaborated with Ella Fitzgerald and supported the fight for desegregation in the U.S.

Louis In London was recorded on July 2, 1968, at the BBC studio for the television show of the same name, marking an important moment in the career of legendary jazz musician Louis Armstrong. This performance became his last major public performance, during which Armstrong looked back at the most significant moments of his musical journey. The song "What A Wonderful World," which became the highlight of this period, first found success in the UK and later gained worldwide popularity. To celebrate this success, Armstrong visited England, where the concert took place. The recording of this performance, both audio and video, has been preserved in excellent quality and is being released for the first time in this collector’s edition. This album is a unique moment when Armstrong reflects on his incredible contribution to American and world popular music while maintaining the magic of his charismatic performance.
