Description

Massive Attack are trip-hop pioneers from Bristol who shaped their unique sound at the intersection of electronica, hip-hop, dub, and soul. The group gained global recognition with albums like Blue Lines, Protection, and especially Mezzanine (1998), which is considered the peak of the genre. Their dark, hypnotic tracks blend deep rhythms with melancholic melodies and guest vocals. The band is also known for its consistent political stance and involvement in humanitarian projects. Currently, Massive Attack consists of Robert "3D" Del Naja and Grant "Daddy G" Marshall.

Protection is the second studio album by British electronic group Massive Attack, released on 26 September 1994 by Wild Bunch Records and Circa. The album’s music blends a variety of genres: from R&B and hip hop to reggae and classical-influenced electronica. Structurally, it follows their previous album Blue Lines, even using the same font – Helvetica Heavy Italic – on the cover. The artwork shows a charred piece of the previous album against a futuristic wall, symbolizing the ignition of “flammable gas.” Tricky returned to contribute rap verses on "Karmacoma" and "Eurochild." The album was highly praised by critics, and Rolling Stone included it in their list of the 100 best albums of the 1990s. Additionally, Protection appears in the book "1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die." As of February 2010, it had sold over 292,000 copies in the United States.

The album includes 10 tracks.
