Spice Girls is a British pop group consisting of five girls: Melanie Brown (Scary Spice), Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice), Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) and Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice). The group was created by manager Simon Fuller, who was looking for girls who could compete with popular American pop girls such as Nicole Kidman and Britney Spears. The group was signed to Virgin Records and released their debut album Spice in 1996. The Spice Girls became one of the most popular and influential pop bands of all time. They were pioneers of the pop girl group genre and helped shape the pop culture of the 1990s.
Greatest Hits is a collection of the Spice Girls' greatest songs released in 2007. The album was released on Virgin Records and became a successful commercial project. It debuted at number one in the UK charts and sold over 2 million copies in the country. The album was also successful internationally, reaching number one in 17 countries.
