The Chemical Brothers are an English electronic music duo formed in 1992 by Ed Simons and Tom Rowlands. They became pioneers of the big beat genre, helping to popularize it in mainstream culture. Initially performing under the name The Dust Brothers, they changed it due to a conflict with an American group of the same name. Their debut album "Exit Planet Dust" (1995) achieved notable success, while their second album "Dig Your Own Hole" (1997) topped the UK charts. The duo have released six number-one albums in the UK and have won six Grammy Awards.
Surrender is the third studio album by English electronic duo The Chemical Brothers, released on 21 June 1999. On this album, the duo continued to experiment with various styles of electronic music, especially house. It features four singles: "Hey Boy Hey Girl", "Let Forever Be", "Out of Control", and "Music: Response". Guest vocalists on the album include Noel Gallagher (Oasis), Hope Sandoval (Mazzy Star), Bernard Sumner (New Order), and Jonathan Donahue (Mercury Rev). The album received critical acclaim and is noted for its more experimental sound compared to previous releases. The cover artwork, created by artist Kate Gibb, is based on a photo from a 1976 British music festival. The image of "Jesus Amongst the Fans" symbolizes the idea of a single person becoming completely immersed in the music amidst a crowd – a feeling the band associates with their live shows.
