The Cure is an English rock band formed in 1978 in Crawley, West Sussex. Guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter Robert Smith has remained the only constant member of the band throughout numerous lineup changes. In the UK, it became the band's most successful album, debuting at number 7 on the charts. The Head on the Door is the first album where all the songs were written solely by lead singer Robert Smith. It also marked the first album with new members: drummer Boris Williams and guitarist Porl Thompson, who became an official member of the band.
