Audio interface RME Digiface USB

The RME Digiface USB is a compact, portable and lightweight audio interface weighing only 220g that transmits SPDIF and ADAT audio to Windows and Mac computers. The latest Plug and Play technology guarantees a simple installation even for an inexperienced user. Numerous unique features as well as reliable RME drivers ensure the fast and efficient operation of Digiface USB.

The audio interface has 4 optical ADAT/SPDIF inputs and outputs, a line output combined with a headphone output on a 1/4" TRS connector. Digiface USB is easy to connect thanks to USB 2.0 and does not require an external power source. The interface has an analog output on channel 33/34 and can be used for monitoring in TotalMix FX – RME's software for routing and monitoring with virtually no limitations (the Digiface USB kit does not contain FX). Each optical port can be used as either ADAT (up to 8 channels) or SPDIF (stereo). Inputs automatically adapt to the received signal format, while outputs can be individually switched between ADAT and SPDIF modes (SMUX and SMUX4 are supported).

The small size, weight, and undemanding type of power supply make Digiface USB extremely versatile.

TotalMix FX

Like all other RME interfaces, the Digiface series includes the powerful TotalMix FX real-time digital mixer. It enables virtually unlimited mixing and routing operations with all inputs and playback channels simultaneously – and to any outputs. The Digiface series features a dedicated Control Room section with Talkback, Main/Phones, fader groups, Mute, full remote control via Mackie or OSC protocol, and more. However, it is worth noting that the Digiface series does not support DSP-based effects (FX) such as EQ or reverb.

Features of TotalMix

• Setting up submixes without delays (headphone mixes). Digiface USB allows you to create up to 17 completely independent stereo submixes. On an analog mixer, this would equate to 34 Aux sends
• Unlimited I/O routing (free to use, patch bay functionality)
• Distribution of signals to several outputs at the same time. TotalMix offers state-of-the-art splitter and distributor functions
• Simultaneous playback of different programs through one stereo output. The multi-client ASIO driver supports the use of several programs at the same time
• Mixing the input signal with the playback signal (full ASIO Direct Monitoring). RME is not only a pioneer but also offers the most complete implementation of ADM functions
• Integration of external devices. Use TotalMix to add external effects. Depending on your needs, you can adjust the send or return of the effects, for example for real-time monitoring or when adding reverb to vocals
• Each individual input channel, playback channel, and hardware output has its own hardware-calculated peak and rms indicator. These indicators are very useful for determining the presence and further routing of audio signals
