Pickup DiMarzio Crunch Lab (F-Spaced, Black)

The DiMarzio Crunch Lab (F-Spaced, Black) is a bridge pickup developed in collaboration with John Petrucci, the legendary guitarist of Dream Theater. This model, along with the LiquiFire™, was used by John during the recording of the album “Black Clouds and Silver Linings”. The Crunch Lab™ offers a clear, tight crunch sound that is free of excessive dirt and sluggishness, ideal for both studio and live performances.

The F-Spaced version (DP-228F) provides increased spacing between the magnetic wires, making it ideal for use with guitars with wide string spacing, such as Floyd Rose bridges or Fender-type neck guitars.

The Crunch Lab™ is not a traditional “screamer” or pickup with too much low end. Although its appearance resembles the D Sonic™, the internal design is quite different, providing deeper highs and an open mids and lows. As a result, the pickup delivers crisp chords with detail and volume even at the lowest level of amp gain.

John Petrucci recommends installing the Crunch Lab™ with the magnetic core facing the neck for maximum depth and clarity. This model has become his go-to for most guitars, including baritone models, regardless of fret setting.
