Designing microphones with amazing sound, exceptional consistency and outstanding durability is no easy feat. DPA Microphones draws on more than six decades of world-class microphone design experience. This history starts back in the 1950s, when our predecessor, Brüel & Kjær, developed the first, precisely accurate measurement microphones. Today, sound superiority and technical innovation is still at the heart of everything we do.
Take a step inside the DPA factory
Ever wonder how a DPA microphone is made? Step inside our factory in Denmark to get an inside look. You will probably be surprised, and perhaps amazed, at the incredible lengths we go through to ensure that each and every mic that leaves our factory is the best it can possibly be.
Great sound is broader than just our mics
2025 will forever be known at DPA as the year of momentous change – change that simultaneously broadens our horizons as well as our reach in the industry. By becoming the majority stakeholder of Austrian Audio, an acclaimed large diaphragm microphone and high-end studio headphone brand, we enhance both companies’ product portfolios and provide new opportunities for growth and innovation.
Founded in 2017 by former AKG Vienna employees, Austrian Audio builds on that heritage to deliver exquisite, high-quality audio products that are renowned for engineering excellence. Together, our two brands provide a broader product range for discerning sound engineers in industries like broadcast, musical, theatre, live events and recording studios.
Moving in new technological directions, 2025 also sees DPA’s entry into the wireless market with the launch of our N-Series Digital Wireless System. Kalle Hvidt Nielsen, CEO of DPA Microphones sums up the importance of this move in his own words:
“For years, we have been committed to creating solutions that safeguard the pure, unaltered sound captured by our microphones. Most of our mics are regularly used with a wireless system. That’s why we believe providing a wireless system that matches the extremely high sound quality of our microphones is so important — not just for us, but for sound engineers who value the true, transparent clarity of DPA sound.”
