Interesting about wind instruments

Of course, every nation has its own traditional instruments. Composers, who very often are also conductors, know everything about each instrument of the orchestra. Because they are interested in maximizing the potential of each of the performers and in realizing the intent of the author of the music. The wind instruments of the symphony orchestra are the flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, French horn and tuba, as well as the saxophone. Interesting is the fact that each of them has a different “appearance”: soprano and piccolo, alto, tenor, and bass.

Wind instruments have probably always existed. They played an important role in human life. With the help of wind instruments, people informed about the danger, called for gatherings, gave signals. They were indispensable for hunting and rituals. The first wind instruments were bones, reeds, horns, shells, and even large walnut shells.

One of the oldest wind instruments is the flute. It gained its popularity back in the Paleolithic era. In most cases, the flute was used by shepherds. A distinctive feature of the wind instrument is the way of sound extraction. The character of the sound depends not only on the blowing force, but also on the position of the lips. Modulations are created by the special mechanisms and valves with which each wind instrument is equipped. All musical wind instruments can be divided into two types: woodwinds and brass. An additional category is the keyboard wind instruments. The classification of brass instruments depends on the mechanism, not on the type of material. Because of a number of features, wind instruments are widely used in all styles of music. They were first used extensively in military orchestras, although they also served as an integral part of academic music. The advent of the saxophone brought wind instruments to a new level. In addition to military and symphony orchestras, the saxophone sounded in many styles of modern music. It takes patience to acquire the technique of playing wind instruments. Once you achieve the result, you can impress your listeners with your virtuosity in a few seconds.
