SRT system

Using digital DSP processing and Yamaha's decades of experience in the recording industry, SRT has been created, a pickup and preamp system capable of delivering unrivaled studio-quality natural sound for acoustic guitar. Quality, which until recently was only possible in a studio with an experienced sound engineer, a fleet of expensive microphones and an optimal recording room acoustics, is now easily accessible to any musician, both on stage and in the studio.

SRT does not create an artificial guitar sound, it rather fully brings into the sound some elements that in general form a high-quality sound: the exquisite effect of the acoustic space between the guitar and the microphone, the characteristic sound equalization introduced by the classic studio microphone, different resonances depending on the location of the microphone.

Since the SRT primarily uses the natural sound of the instrument as a basis, the result is incredibly realistic and reflects primarily the character of the guitar sound.

Three sound modes for high quality microphones

Choose from three of the world's most sought-after microphone models. Original microphones are used to record sounds in the SRT system.

• Mode # 1: Neumann U67

The classic wide-diaphragm condenser microphone has a wide frequency range and fast response. This mode is suitable for all musical styles and genres, perfectly conveys phrasing. Recommended for rock accompaniment and performance.

• Mode # 2: Neumann KM56

The classic narrow-diaphragm microphone has a soft sound, precise and delicate high frequencies. Recommended for Arpeggios, Slow Songs, Finger Styles, etc.

• Mode # 3: Royer R-122

Modern ribbon microphone. It has a smooth attack with soft highs and warm surround sound. Smoothes out hard finger busting to a velvety sound. Recommended for jazz and blues.

Repositioning the microphone

• FOCUS:

Close placement of the microphone relative to the guitar (20-30 cm). Conveys string and body resonance clearly for dense surround sound and perfect focus.

• WIDE:

Close microphone placement combined with a microphone in the far field (a few meters from the guitar). The acoustic effect can be compared to the distant sound of a guitar. Recommended for both solo and group performances.

Adjustable cabinet resonance

The resonance control allows you to add body resonance to the main sound, thereby emphasizing the natural sound of your guitar. The resonance control is only effective in microphone sound mode.

Feedback suppression

The top APX / CPX series guitars incorporate Yamaha's proprietary A.F.R. technology (Auto Feedback Reduction), which automatically recognizes the frequency at which feedback occurs and applies a bandpass filter to suppress it. When you get feedback, just press the button and turn on A.F.R. Simultaneous use of up to five filters is possible.

Mixing sound sources from microphone and piezo sensor

Mixing sound sources from a microphone and a piezo sensor allows you to expand the sound palette. Also, mixing sound sources from the piezo sensor with the sound of the built-in microphone increases the attack.
