The Ibanez XPTB620 is a Xiphos solid body electric guitar introduced by Ibanez in 2021. It is produced in Indonesia as part of the Ibanez Iron Label series. Named after a short ancient Greek sword, the Xiphos electric guitar combines razor-sharp sounds with extremely agile playing characteristics. The XPTB620 was built for pure metal, as evidenced by its radical Xiphos chassis and sinister blackout aesthetic. The body is made from okume, a tonewood known for its bright, cutting tone and incredible natural sustain. One of the fastest Ibanez necks to date, the 5-piece maple and walnut Wizard II neck is an absolute pleasure to play. This thin and super-comfortable neck makes it easy to play arpeggios and hammer-ons. The fretboard is made of ebony and has 24 frets, perfect for banding. Ibanez equipped the Iron Label Xiphos XPTB620 with a pair of DiMarzio D Activator humbuckers. These high-octane pickups provide a full and rich harmonic quality that is great for both rhythm and solo playing. DiMarzio designed their D Activator pickups to eliminate the sterile harshness that comes with many active pickups. The Edge Zero II bridge design features a lower tremolo profile for playability and a locking feature for stable tuning. Gotoh tuners provide ultra-precision, smooth running and minimal backlash. The XPTB720 is a seven-string version of this guitar.
