Professionals and seekers of the holy grail of sound have been combining amplifiers on stage and in the studio for years, mixing their sounds and discovering new tonal palettes to explore. Thanks to MXR's award-winning team of engineers, you can recreate this experience right from your pedalboard.

The MXR team got their hands on a pair of carefully tuned guitar amps of the legendary make and model, reveled in their thunderous bliss, and then dismantled them for detailed analysis. One of the amps was modified for high gain saturation and the other was modified for midrange punch crunch. When played in tandem, the additional tonal profiles reveal a harmoniously complex palette of grain, grind and maximum overdrive that sounds so incredible that the team knew they had to make it available to guitarists around the world.

FOD Drive is the result of their efforts. Painstakingly recreating each amp as a pedal circuit, MXR engineers placed them in a single package as separate High Gain and Crunch Gain channels. Each channel has its own gain and volume controls, so you can choose the correct sound palette for each side. The Blend control then lets you set the mixing ratio of the two signals - just like two separate amps connected to a mixer. The Tone knob sets the EQ for the overall output, and the Scoop switch lets you choose between cut or boosted mids.
