Synthesizer Yamaha MODX M6 — a new standard for professional synthesizers
Yamaha introduces the MODX M6 — a new generation instrument that combines the power of flagship technologies with compactness and affordability. This synthesizer opens up unlimited possibilities for musicians to create, experiment and perform.
The control has become much more convenient and functional. The synthesizer is equipped with eight faders, which is twice as many as the previous MODX+ series, and this allows for more precise control of the sound parameters. New dedicated scene selection buttons open up opportunities to control arpeggios, movement sequences, reverb and the famous Super Knob, which now has an additional function — position buttons with fixation in three positions (left, center, right). Below the touch screen are six physical controls that provide quick access to the main settings and make working with the instrument as intuitive as possible.
Three Tone Generators
The MODX M6 features three independent engines:
- AN-X — a new analog generator with three oscillators, five waveforms, PWM, ring modulation, frequency modulation and a noise generator. Added drift and aging parameters for authentic vintage sound
- AWM2 — updated with over 10 GB of preset wave memory and 1.9 GB of user memory
- FM-X — a powerful engine with 8 operators, 88 algorithms and a new motion synthesis system with up to 32 part assignments
Polyphony
Total polyphony increased to 268 notes:
- 128 notes for AWM2
- 128 notes for FM-X
- 12 notes for AN-X
New effect
VCM Rotary Speaker — a realistic emulation of a classic rotary speaker with a rich sound.
Studio Integration
- Softsynth Plug-in (ESP) - Reproduces MODX M6 sound in DAW, available from January 2026
- USB MIDI 2.0 and multi-channel audio interface (10 outs, 4 ins, 44.1 kHz)
- Use as a hardware controller for Cubase, Logic, ProTools and Live
