Curtis James Jackson III, better known as 50 Cent, is an American rapper, actor, television producer, and businessman. Born on July 6, 1975, in a poor neighborhood of Queens, New York. He started his musical career in 1996. In 2000, he was shot nine times, his debut album was canceled, and the rapper himself was fired from his label. However, his 2002 mixtape "Guess Who's Back?" attracted the attention of Eminem, who invited Curtis to Los Angeles. His first studio album, Get Rich or Die Tryin (2003), was a commercial success, topping the Billboard 200 and being certified nine times platinum by the RIAA. 50 Cent has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide and won numerous awards, including a Grammy, a Primetime Emmy Award, thirteen Billboard Music Awards, six World Music Awards, three American Music Awards, and four BET Awards.
