ABBA is a Swedish pop group formed in Stockholm in 1972. The group consisted of four talented performers: Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad. The band's name is an acronym made from the first letters of their names, forming a palindrome. ABBA is one of the most popular and successful music groups of all time. They topped charts worldwide from 1974 to 1982 and again from 2016 to 2022 following a brief comeback. In 1974, ABBA became the first Eurovision winners from Sweden with the song “Waterloo”, which was later voted the best song in the contest's history in 2005.
The Album is the fifth studio album by Swedish group ABBA, released on December 12, 1977, through the Polar Music label. Due to overwhelming demand, its UK release was delayed until January 1978. The album was created alongside the film ABBA: The Movie and includes nine tracks, featuring hits like "Take a Chance on Me" and "The Name of the Game". It also features songs from the mini-musical The Girl with the Golden Hair, performed during their 1977 concert tour. In 2017, a special 40th-anniversary vinyl reissue was released, along with a limited edition of colored vinyl singles.
