Chuck Berry was an American singer, guitarist, and songwriter known as the "Father of Rock and Roll". He was born in 1926 in St. Louis in a family of African Americans. He rose to fame in the 1950s with the song "Maybellene," an adaptation of the country song "Ida Red," which sold more than a million copies and reached number one on Billboard magazine's R&B chart. His lyrics focused on teenage life and consumerism, and his musical style included guitar solos and showmanship. Berry was influential as a musician and gained respect as a performer and composer.
The Great Twenty-Eight is a compilation of Chuck Berry's best songs, released on two vinyl discs. Released in 1982, the album features 28 tracks that reflect Berry's influential rock and roll career.
