Bill Evans (William John Evans) is an American jazz pianist and composer. His interpretations of traditional jazz repertoire, his use of impressionistic harmony and block chords, and his melodic lines continue to influence contemporary jazz pianists. Born in Plainfield, New Jersey, USA. He studied classical music at Southeastern Louisiana University and the Mannes School of Music in New York, where he studied composition and received an Artist Diploma. In 1958, Evans joined the Miles Davis Sextet, which in 1959, steeped in modal jazz, recorded Kind of Blue, the best-selling jazz album of all time.
In 1963, Evans recorded a solo album, “Conversations with Myself”, using overdubbing technology. This album can be considered one of the most interesting works of Bill Evans, which is worth paying attention to.
