Ortofon OM 5E is a low-mass cartridge with a movable magnet and elliptical stylus. The cartridge body is designed for easy installation and alignment. For use with standard tonearms, a small removable plate is built into the mounting bracket. This can be removed when using a lightweight tonearm, reducing the cartridge weight to just 2.5g. The OM 5E housing is lightweight and provides high rigidity to eliminate resonance. Its computer modeled design improves linearity, results in greater channel separation and reduces distortion. The OM 5E is equipped with an elliptical stylus that provides balanced playback without distortion. Elliptical diamonds are able to follow groove vibrations more closely than spherical diamonds due to their contoured shape. This results in better tracking and reduced distortion.
