Description

Robert Schumann was a German composer, pianist, and music critic of the Romantic era whose work embodies the spirit and depth of nineteenth-century German music. His path to composer's fame was full of drama: from abandoning his legal career to being forced to give up his piano career due to a hand injury. At the same time, it allowed him to focus on composition, resulting in iconic works such as piano cycles, romances, and later symphonies. Schumann was not only a composer, but also a theorist: as a co-founder of the Neue Zeitschrift für Musik, he actively shaped music criticism. His symphonic works, in particular the Spring and Rhine Symphonies, were key to the formation of the German orchestral tradition.

Rafael Kubelík is a Czech conductor, pianist, and composer known as a master of interpreting the German Romantic repertoire. His conducting style is characterized by emotional depth, dynamic clarity, and fidelity to the author's intent. Kubelik has gained international recognition as a leader of some of the world's most renowned orchestras, including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Bavarian State Opera, and the Berlin Philharmonic. His collaboration with the latter is a particularly valuable page in the history of 20th-century classical music recordings.

The Berliner Philharmoniker is one of the most prestigious orchestras in the world, founded in 1882 in Berlin. Thanks to the collaboration with such prominent conductors as Wilhelm Furtwängler, Herbert von Karajan, Claudio Abbado and Kirill Petrenko, the orchestra has become the embodiment of the German symphonic tradition. Its sound is characterized by the deep warmth of the strings, the elegance of the woodwinds, and the power of the brass. The Berliner Philharmoniker is not just an instrument in the hands of a conductor, but a true interpreter of musical ideas, capable of embodying the subtlest shades of romantic music.

The 4 Symphonies is a luxurious release on three vinyl discs, combining four symphonies by Robert Schumann performed by Rafael Kubelík and the Berliner Philharmoniker. This is not just a collection of works, but a real artistic cycle that demonstrates the evolution of Schumann as a symphonist - from the bright hope of the Spring Symphony to the philosophical maturity of the Rhine Symphony. The recording also includes overtures from the operas Genoveva and Manfred, which deepen the image of the composer as a playwright and thinker. The release is a limited edition and numbered, which makes it a valuable copy for collectors and connoisseurs of classical music.
