Dio was founded in October 1982 by vocalist Ronnie James Dio after his departure from Black Sabbath. Dio quickly gained popularity with their debut album "Holy Diver." This album featured hit singles such as “Rainbow in the Dark” and “Holy Diver,” which made Dio famous in the world of hard rock and heavy metal. The band consisted of Vinny Appice on drums, Vivian Campbell on guitar, and Jimmy Bain on bass guitar. Ronnie James Dio remained the band's consistent leader until his death in 2010, and his powerful vocals combined with charismatic stage performances cemented Dio as one of the most influential bands in heavy metal.
Intermission is the first live album by Dio, released in 1986. It features live recordings from the first part of the "Sacred Heart" tour. The album includes hits like “King of Rock and Roll,” “Rainbow in the Dark,” and “We Rock,” showcasing Ronnie James Dio's powerful vocals and the band's live energy. The album also includes the studio track “Time to Burn,” which was recorded after guitarist Vivian Campbell was replaced by Craig Goldy. Intermission gives listeners a chance to experience the atmosphere of Dio's live performances and is an important addition to the band's discography.
