The Breeze: An Appreciation of JJ Cale is Eric Clapton's 2014 tribute album dedicated to the memory of his friend and musical mentor JJ Cale, who died a year earlier. The album's title refers to Cale's song “Call Me the Breeze”. The album was produced by Clapton himself and Simon Clyme and consists of cover versions of Cale's classic compositions. Clapton's friends and big stars of the music scene joined the recording: Tom Petty, Mark Knopfler, John Meyer, Willie Nelson, Don White and Christine Lakeland. All the participants recreated the atmosphere of a relaxed and present sound that was characteristic of Cale. The album conveys a deep tribute to the master and at the same time retains Eric Clapton's signature style, making it a special one in the musician's discography.
