Iggy Pop is a legendary figure in American rock and one of the most influential icons of the alternative scene, often referred to as the "Godfather of Punk." His stage intensity, raw energy, and rebellious nature helped lay the foundation for numerous genres, including grunge and post-punk. Starting his career as the frontman of The Stooges, Iggy created a radical musical aesthetic that opposed mainstream trends. His work constantly walked the line between chaos and finesse, making him a lasting symbol of defiance against conformity. In the 1970s, he went through a personal crisis, but this period also marked the beginning of a new, more experimental phase in his music.
Lust for Life is Iggy Pop’s second solo album, released on September 9, 1977, via RCA Records. It was his second collaboration with David Bowie following the album "The Idiot," released earlier that March. After touring in support of "The Idiot" (with Bowie on keyboards), the two returned to West Berlin to record a new album at Hansa Studio. Unlike "The Idiot," which was mostly crafted by Bowie, this time Iggy pushed for greater creative control, resulting in a sound more reminiscent of his earlier work with The Stooges – tougher and closer to proto-punk. Despite limited promotion from RCA, the album found success in the UK and the Netherlands, and over time it has come to be recognized as one of Iggy’s finest works. It also marked his last major collaboration with Bowie until the mid-1980s.
The album includes 9 tracks.
