Jay-Z is an American rapper, songwriter, record producer, and entrepreneur who is considered one of the most influential artists in the history of hip-hop. Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, Jay-Z has become a genre icon with over 140 million records sold, 24 Grammy Awards and numerous other awards. He has been at the forefront of many successful artist careers, was the CEO of Def Jam Recordings, and was the first billionaire rapper. He has been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and Time magazine has repeatedly included him in its list of the world's most influential people.

The Blueprint is Jay-Z's sixth studio album, released on September 11, 2001 via Roc-A-Fella Records and Def Jam Recordings. Recorded in Manhattan against the backdrop of lawsuits and acute conflicts in the hip-hop community, the album became innovative due to its sound built on soul samples and a powerful production team, including Kanye West, Just Blaze, Bink and Eminem. The latter also participated as the only guest artist on the track “Renegade”. The album is considered to be one of the best hip-hop projects in history: critics have praised Jay-Z's sophisticated lyrics, expressiveness, and thoughtful musical atmosphere. Despite the coincidence of the release with the September 11 tragedy, The Blueprint debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and was subsequently certified platinum three times. In 2018, the album was included in the US National Recording Registry for its cultural significance.
