Lana Del Rey (real name: Elizabeth Woolridge Grant) is an American singer, songwriter and producer who has become the voice of the melancholic aesthetic of the 21st century. Known for her cinematic style, she combines a retro atmosphere with modern pop music, immersing the listener in a world of longing, nostalgia, and love. Her work has been repeatedly recognized with prestigious awards and nominations, including Grammy and Golden Globe. From the breakthrough Born to Die to the experimental Norman Fucking Rockwell!, Lana is not afraid to change her sound while maintaining her distinctive signature.
Blue Banisters, released on October 15, 2021, is the singer's eighth studio release. It is an emotionally frank diary in which Lana focuses on the themes of self-identity, loss, female solidarity, and healing. In contrast to the orchestral Chemtrails over the Country Club, Blue Banisters sounds more intimate and raw, often with minimalist arrangements that focus on her vocals and piano. Both longtime collaborators (Drew Erickson, Zachary Dawes) and new names (Gabe Simon, Miles Kane) took part in the work on the album. The album contains many autobiographical elements and is, according to the singer herself, an attempt at personal reconstruction.
