The album Bags' Groove by Miles Davis was released in 1957 by Prestige and consists of material recorded in 1954. It includes two versions of the title track, recorded on December 24, 1954, along with other compositions recorded earlier that same year. The track "Bags' Groove" was written by vibraphonist Milt Jackson, and three of Sonny Rollins' compositions went on to become jazz standards. The album is notable for its use of the mute to create a unique timbre, which became a distinctive feature of Davis's sound.
